starburst

What it does

starburst generates a starburst under these parameters:

• image size (the diameter of the starburst including points)
• number of points
• output filename (default: stdout)
• colour (default: red)
• triangle depth (default: circumference ÷ number of sides)

the output is PDF, generated by Quartz.

How it works

starburst does two things at the same time:

• it creates an n-sided regular polygon (n being the number of points specified on the command line).
• it cuts a triangle out of each side; the points of the starburst lie between each two adjacent triangles.

this is recorded in a Quartz path, which is then recorded in a Quartz PDF document, which is either saved to disk (by Quartz) or dumped to stdout (by starburst).
