Actually, System 7.5 had the first Finder-replacing Find File utility, which was actually useful (derived from a MacUser-commissioned utility called Find Pro III). Sherlock 1 had a pretty obnoxious interface, but it worked; Sherlock 2 was just hideous. Back then I used File Buddy's Find as a replacement.

Now it's back in the Finder and it sucks worse than Sherlock ever did. Sherlock 2 was ugly, but at least it was able to find stuff before next week.

Err... what? Weird. I distinctly remember Sherlock 2 being part of Mac OS 8.5. In any case, Sherlock 1 was still the initial exile of finding files from the Finder, which was still at least slightly evil. :P

Mac OS 8.5 brings to mind the horrors of finding files being relegated to Sherlock 2, with it's weird brushed-metal appearance and non-windowshading functionality.

If you look at the advertisement that I linked to, you'll find that Mac OS 8.5 actually was the introduction of Sherlock 1, the first non-shitty edition. ☺

Mac OS 9 was the version responsible for the evil that was Sherlock 2.

Mac OS 8.5 brings to mind the horrors of finding files being relegated to Sherlock 2, with it's weird brushed-metal appearance and non-windowshading functionality. I seem to recall Mac OS 8.1 being more important than 8.5, but who knows. That was so long ago. Jeebus, almost a decade! (And to think that I dealt with administering a school of Macs with that version on them!)

No. ☺

Besides, relative to Mac OS 8.0 and 8.1, 8.5 was a big improvement.

But Mac OS 8 was terrible, why would you...

Hold on now, are you trying to imply something?
